Oddly enough, I don't view Composer as a replacement. And when I am ready to put a proverbial bow on my piece with CTAs and images, I can do so at my own convenience. With the click of a button, I can peacefully transition from the usual noise of their standard editor to this blissful, clean space, allowing me to focus my energy on what matters most - the words I need to put on the page. But with all of the modules, widgets and backend setting tools clogging up the screen, it still wasn't that great for promoting the zen-like writing experience my ADD-addled brain so desperately needs when I'm trying to get the creative juices flowing.īut this new tool addressed all of those pain points. ![]() ![]() Because I'm a lazy, selfish person who likes to find all of the tools I need to get my work done under the same roof.Įnter stage left, the aforementioned HubSpot Composer blog tool.īefore I go any further, I do want to say that HubSpot's standard content creation tool for blogs isn't the worst offender I've come across, in terms of providing a negative writing experience. Second, as someone who spends my days living in HubSpot, I hated that I was forced to find a third-party application in order to develop my blogs. (I also highly recommend it for those who don't have HubSpot access.) So for those use cases, I will choose Calmly every single time. First, the former's lag time with larger word counts pushed me straight into the arms of the latter. They work really well for my freelancing and Naptown Pint blog, but there are two things I should note. Thankfully, in recent months, I have found great tools like OMMWriter and Calmly. Of course, that could just be me, but the overabundance of Google search results for "distraction-free writing" leads me to believe I'm not alone in this frustration. ![]() This gap in awesome tools tailored to the needs of writing-focused content creators has driven me mad. The standard Microsoft Word - with all of it's squiggles, buttons, bells and whistles - is a huge, annoying distraction when I'm trying to write, and many of the rich text editors out there aren't much better. ![]() It seems like app developers are positively tripping over themselves to create beautiful working experiences for creatives in the graphic and web design fields, but us writers are left sitting on the curb with romantic notions of the antique typewriter we'll never buy.
